MasterChef Ash Ryan presents Master Class at St Clare’s

What an exciting experience it was for St Clare’s to have Chef Ash Ryan, who is a highly accomplished chef, demonstrate and teach precision cutting of vegetables and fruit to our students.


Ash Ryan is an Executive Chef at Clancy’s Fish Bar in Fremantle. Prior to Clancy’s, Ash had a distinguished career as a Chef at the Hilton Hotel.


The precision cutting techniques and knife skills that a professional uses were demonstrated were brilliant to watch. He is a great teacher who made precision cutting look easy!

Not only did Ash astound us with his talent, he also told great stories about his experiences in commercial kitchens. Ash also provided us with an insight into an industry that can be very rewarding but also extremely stressful although he maintains it is an environment in which he loves to work.


We were very sorry to see Ash leave on Thursday afternoon after having spent two days with us.

He had a wonderful time at St Clare’s and was enthusiastic at the possible prospect of returning in Naidoc Week to present a Master Class in using Aboriginal ingredients.

What a wonderful presentation that would be!
