Christian Service Learning

To help and serve others gives a profound sense of purpose and value to our lives. It increases the dignity of the giver and receiver of the service. Also, it is widely accepted that there is much learning (knowledge, attitudes and skills) contained in service opportunities.

In the tradition of our founders, the Good Shepherd sisters, we aim to offer opportunities of Christian Service Learning for the students at St Clare’s School. These include such projects as preparing meals for those who are homeless or disadvantaged; visiting local aged-care facilities, and providing leisure activities such as singing of Christmas Carols; caring for the environment by particpating in Clean-up Australia day. We hope to extend these opportunities over time. Hours of Community service undertaken by students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are recorded, and can appear on a WACE or WASSA at the end of Year 12.
